Hit the streets and save at the district-wide sidewalk and yard sale… |
| TOMS
RIVER, NJ, Sept.9- Bargain hunters will find the central business
district the place to be for bargains Saturday, Sept. 25 as the Toms River
Business Improvement District (TRBID) conducts a district-wide sidewalk
and yard sale. Capone points out that community-wide yard sales are real bargains for residents. Instead of having the expense of advertising, they pay a minimal registration fee to the organizers and the organizers do a more extensive job of advertising than an individual homeowner would. The homeowner still has the convenience of holding in sale at their own home, but they benefit from buyers being attracted to the area because there is a collection of homes participating. “Add in a sidewalk sale by local businesses, and you have quite an attraction,” explained Capone. The Business Improvement District encompasses an area bordered roughly by the Garden State Parkway to the West, Hadley Avenue to the East, the south side of Route 37 to the North, and the Toms River to the South. The district is getting an informational flyer out to all of the residents within the district. Registration will cost only $5 per household. Participating residents will be given a kit including balloons and directional signs, and the TRBID will advertise the sale as well as provide a list of homes and businesses that are having yard or sidewalk sales. For businesses there is no fee as the sidewalk sale is provided as part of the services from their Business Improvement District. They should still register with the TRBID office. To register, residents or business owners should call the TRBID at 732-341-8738 or stop by the BID office at 218 Main Street. Registration deadline is 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22. Click here for a flyer. For shoppers, the list of participating homes and businesses will be on the TRBID web site at www.DowntownTomsRiver.com and on a flyer available to buyers at the TRBID offices on Main Street. The sale is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004. Flyer for Shoppers |
