July 20, 2007 - Toms River, NJ…. New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Charles M. Kuperus and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have declared the week of August 5th – 11th National Farmers Market Week with a ceremony commemorating the occasion at the Downtown Toms River Farmers Market on Wednesday, August 8th where the Secretary and other dignitaries will present the Proclamation.  The Farmers Market runs Wednesdays from noon to 6:00 pm through October 24th (rain or shine) in Huddy Park.

New Jersey is ripe with the bounty of its farms and this year’s participants in the Downtown Toms River market include DeWolf Farm, New Egypt; Fresh Pik Farms, East Windsor; Farmer Al’s Market, Monroe; Krowicki’s Farm, New Egypt; and organic farmer E R & Son Organic Farm,
a.k.a. Jeff’s Organic, Monroe Township.

With summer’s arrival, Garden State produce flourishes and our farmers will be selling it all fresh from the field -- seasonal vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers.  Delicious and wholesome food is brought straight from the farm to your table and includes a wide variety of homemade products for
sale: breads and pastries from Lithuanian Bakery, Elizabeth; breads from Italian Treasures, Brick; pickle products including tomatoes, olives, peppers and mushrooms from Pickle Licious, Teaneck; honey products from Herbertsville Honey, Brick; peanuts, nuts and candy from The Peanut Man, Toms River; and Flowers by Addalia, Toms River.

While shopping, treat yourself to some delectable food from Capone’s Gourmet Pizza & Restaurant, available for sale in the concession building.
