They’re here! The vintage cars and motorcycles for “Cruisin’ Downtown” will be parked along Washington Street on Wednesday, August 8 from 6 to 9 pm.  Downtown Toms River and the Vintage Auto Club of Ocean County present this showy display of vintage cars, including 20th century classics, customized hot rods, collector’s edition vehicles and motorcycles.  “Cruisin’ Downtown” will line the street the second Wednesday of each month from 6 to 9 pm through September. Restaurants and shops will be open and live entertainment will reverberate up and down Washington Street throughout this exciting evening.

Elvis impersonator Ray Kaminski, back by popular demand, and DJ Dave will be dishing up the tunes.  A cappella sensation Sounds of the Street will woo you with their dulcet tones and popular doo wop songs.  Get your engines revved with good music, great food and a host of hot rods!

Owners displaying cars should report to Hadley Avenue, off Hooper Avenue, between 4 and 5 pm, facing south to Washington Street.  Representatives from the Vintage Auto Club will be on hand to direct participants. Automobile owners of models dating prior to 1982 are eligible to participate and must register at the Downtown Toms River event booth on the corner of Washington Street and Court House Lane to obtain a dash plaque. Registration is free.

Best of Show trophies are presented by the Vintage Auto Club to the top three automobiles at each “Cruisin’ Downtown” event. For motorcycle enthusiasts and proud owners, members of the Trinity Motorcycle Ministry will be available at the motorcycle registration table on the corner of Main and Washington Streets to answer questions and direct motorcycle parking on those streets and along Hyers Street.  Two trophies will be awarded to owners of prized motorcycles.

“Cruisin’ Downtown” is a free event hosted by Downtown Toms River and supported by sponsors: Flowers by Addalia, Capone’s Gourmet Pizza & Restaurant, Comcast, FirstEnergy Foundation (JCP&L), Harley Davidson, HEALTHSOUTH Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River, Investors Savings Bank, Lackland Self Storage, New Jersey Natural Gas, Ray Catena Lexus, United Water Toms River and radio stations WJRZ and the WRAT.
