The free event features a strolling visit to the galleries combined with music, fashion, food, and flowers, offering adventurers the opportunity to stroll the downtown streets, enjoy the galleries and experience the hidden treasures in Toms River.

A Picture Perfect Adventure is being hosted by the H. Hargrove Studio, 43 Main St.; Virginia Perle Art Gallery, 96 East Water St.; and the Col. Charles Waterhouse Historical Museum, 17 Washington St. It has been created with the assistance of Downtown Toms River (BID).

Each gallery offers a different style of art, each will be staffed by the artist from which it takes its name, and each will offer music, refreshments, and surprises for guests. Live music will be provided by Creative Journeys School of Music and The Music Academy. Both are located within Downtown Toms River. While the free afternoon experience is open to the general public, families are particularly encouraged to use it as a special experience for a pre-Mother’s Day celebration. A number of the downtown restaurants will be offering pre-Mother’s Day specials in coordination with the event. Local florists, Dayton Floral, John’s Riverside Florist and Village Florist will be providing flowers at each gallery.

“I am pleased to see our BID members partnering together to provide a great event to the surrounding community,” explains TRBID Chairman Frank Capone. “We are excited to roll out the first of many cultural events that feature the hidden treasures of our area,” adds Capone.

The H. Hargrove Studio features the “Americana” illustrations of Nick Hargrove. The Virginia Perle Art Gallery features Ms. Perle’s pictures of local scenes as well as the work of other local artists. The Col. Charles Waterhouse Historical Museum features an extensive collection of the paintings of historical battle scenes by retired Marine Corps Col. Charles Waterhouse, who served as the official Marine Corps Artist-in- Residence from 1972 to 1992.

Details of the event and a walking map of participating galleries and parking is available at www.DowntownTomsRiver.com. Special coupons redeemable on event day are also available on the website.

Downtown Toms River is involved in producing numerous downtown events and promotions including the Chili & Salsa Cook-off on May 15th, and Cruisin’ Downtown 2004, which begins June 9.
