Walk this Way as the Village Health Walk Kicks Off...
“We are excited about providing a program that will reintroduce residents and workers to our enjoyable, walkable downtown,” explains TRBID Chairman Frank Capone. “What a great benefit for the employers in the area. Walking is known to increase overall health, which in turn can aid in productivity,” adds Capone. A one- mile and a two- mile measured route have been established within the downtown area. The longer route can typically be walked in 30 minutes or less. Both routes take walkers past waterfront, historic structures, and park areas. The general public is invited to the kickoff at 218 Main St. at Noon on Monday, the 26th. Participating sponsors include Living Water Yoga, Weigh To Live System and WJRZ-Oldies 100, and all BID Members. Living Water and Weigh To Live are both health oriented businesses that recently opened downtown. Sponsors will be on hand at the event providing free
chair massages, blood pressure checks, T-shirts, give-away’s, live
music and much more. Samplings of food will be provided
by participating Health Walk restaurants; Capone’s Gourmet
Pizza, East Coast Vegan, The Java Joint, Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty,
Pumpernickels Eatery and Tommy’s Restaurant. Downtown Toms River is involved in producing numerous downtown events and promotions including the Chili & Salsa Cook-off on May 15th, and Cruisin’ Downtown 2004, which begins June 9.
